Why we were created?

According to Islam, Allah (God) created humanity and the jinn (spiritual beings) primarily to worship Him, an instruction found in the Quran. This purpose involves Tawhid (affirming His Oneness) and obedience to Him, with this life serving as a test to determine who is best in deeds, leading to success in the Hereafter. Humanity’s worship and obedience are not for God’s benefit but for human benefit and spiritual growth, fulfilling the purpose of their existence and potentially earning eternal bliss.

Key Reasons for Human Creation:
  • Worship of Allah (Tawhid):
The most fundamental reason is to worship Allah alone, without partners. This worship affirms His Oneness (Tawhid) and His absolute sovereignty.

  • A Test:
The world is a test, and Allah created life to see who performs the best deeds. This test is a means for spiritual growth.

  • To Know and Obey Allah:
We were created to know Allah, affirm His Oneness, and obey His commands.

  • Earning Bliss in the Hereafter:
Through faith, worship, and good deeds, humans can attain eternal happiness in Paradise.

  • Fulfilling a Divine Will:
The creation is a demonstration of Allah’s absolute will, power, and wisdom.

Important Considerations:
  • God’s Independence:
Allah is not in need of human worship; it is humanity that needs to worship Him to benefit themselves.

  • Holistic Worship:
This worship is not a one-time event but should encompass every aspect of life, with every breath and step taken in God’s service.

  • No Foolish Purpose:
The creation of the universe and humanity was not for a trivial or foolish purpose but for a significant, divine reason.
